How we pick

Every video here was recommended by a person, and then checked for business relevance. Nothing is paid for, and nobody here is a verified business owner.

Hacker News recommendations

We read public Hacker News comments that link a YouTube video. A model (Claude) judged whether the commenters genuinely recommend that video to someone running or starting a business. A video is counted once per commenter, and a comment that links several videos splits its credit among them. Newer recommendations count more than old ones. Commenters are anonymous internet users, so "recommended by N" means N distinct Hacker News commenters, not N verified owners.

Tiers

Clear recommendations are shown first. Borderline ones appear under "Also recommended" only when at least two commenters named them or Ron saved them too, and only if the video is about business at its core.

Ron's picks

Ron's picks are videos Ron saved to his own library. They get the same business-relevance check, then a badge. They show "Ron's pick" instead of a commenter count.

What gets left out

Videos that are unavailable, under three minutes, or in the YouTube News, Music or Entertainment categories are left out, as are videos judged not about business. The judging is automated and imperfect, and we review the dropped list by hand.
